CHEROKEE MIDDLE SCHOOL   Cherokee, Iowa FEH Associates designed this new 77,000 square foot middle school with a central core that includes arts and sciences classrooms, computer labs and the library/media center. An arched canopy entrance opens into a skylighted commons space along a corridor shared by a new gymnasium, music rooms and industrial technology classrooms. A pod-style design creates 5/6 and 7/8 wings with classrooms surrounding a learning commons with computer work stations. The Cherokee Middle School design has served as a new school model for several school districts.
