HAIKU   Des Moines, Iowa Haiku, an Asian fusion restaurant, is located in one of the retail spaces on the first level of the Drake West Village Student Housing Project. FEH was asked by the Owners to create a space that was modern and minimal with walls and casework that were back lit blue. The lighting concept for the walls was achieved by using two layers of polycarbonate panels back lighted with blue LED lighting. LED lighting was specified because it is extremely energy efficient, with an exceptionally long lamp life, and dimmable. A bulkhead with a light cove and down lights follows the perimeter of the dining room above the tables and banquettes. more >
