SIOUX CITY FIRE STATION NO. 6

Sioux City, Iowa

Design required the complete renovation of an existing 3,000 square foot historic 1915 fire station as well as the addition of a new 1,300 square foot apparatus bay and 250 square feet of additional dormitory area. The total 4,550 square foot renovation/expansion accommodates existing day room functions; expands the existing kitchen; renovates the dormitory area; and provides new locker rooms. It also provides a new office and communications area, as well as total renovation of all mechanical and electrical systems. The preservation effort was featured in American Bungalow magazine and later received the Iowa Historical Preservation Alliance’s 2002 Award for “Preservation At Its Best”.
