MAIN BRANCH LIBRARY, SIOUXLAND PUBLIC LIBRARIES

Sioux Falls, South Dakota

FEH Associates met the challenge of expanding the Siouxland Libraries Main Branch Library facility at its tight, downtown Sioux Falls location bounded by streets on three sides and parking on the other. The expansion/renovation project added 18,988 square feet to the original 43,068 square foot facility built in 1972. The project included interior remodeling and reconfiguration to meet the current needs of its patrons.

FEH provided all the initial building assessments, building programming and the conceptual design in a "Design Charrette" format. Incorporating valuable public input, the FEH team used its community workshop process to gather information for programming the space needs. We then carried that public input process through into the conceptual design by inviting the community to participate in a design charrette.
