This new Student Activity Center for Iowa Wesleyan College includes a gymnasium, training facilities, a wellness/exercise/aerobics center and a conference center with a “smart” classroom. Other features are concession facilities, four student locker rooms, staff/official locker rooms and athletic offices. The facility connects to the existing student union/food service building. This unique project was an ongoing negotiated design-build project that required continual communication and cooperation. As changes were initiated during construction, the College, FEH and the contractor worked together to adjust the project to maintain a balanced budget throughout construction.
